See Robin Williams in this funny classic Vietnam film. An unorthodox and irreverent DJ begins to shake things up when he is assigned to the Army radio station in Vietnam. This film starring Robin Williams, is based on the story of real-life Armed Forces radio disc jockey, Adrain Cronauer, who was assigned to Vietnam as a moral-booster.

A Psychological Look at Armed Conflict

Join psychologist, writer, and educator Kevin Volkan for his talk: “Ordinary Men: How normal people can do terrible things.” Group psychology is applicable to any armed conflict. We expect soldiers to kill and be killed, but what about civilians and other non-combatants? In this talk Kevin Volkan will use the expamle of the Nazi “Einsatzgruppen” as an instance of how relatively ordinary people engage in horrendous acts of cruelty. Book discussion to follow.

"Under Fire: Stories of Combat Veterans Across Generation"

“Under Fire” is a multi-media theatre piece based upon the collected interviews of combat veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, 1st Gulf War, and the Wars of Iraq and Afghanistan. The play presents the experience of combat veterans who, though separated by the differences in technology, communication, medicine, and the culture of the times, were very similar in their human reaction to engaging in wartime combat. The play is written and directed by Michael J. Arndt who is a Theatre Professor at California Lutheran University and also serves as Artistic Director for Kingsmen Shakespeare Company. The play will include film clips as well as original music and dance. A post-show moderated discussion will involve the artists and audience members. This event is free and open to the public.
