Bus Trip to Nokomis Center

On November 17 the Hartland Senior Activity Center, in cooperation with the Cromaine Library and its Big Read program, will visit the Nokomis Learning Center, a Native American Cultural Center in Okemos. This outing includes a tour of the gallery and museum as well as learning experiences, i.e., explore artifacts from the fur trade, work on a craft and learn about the Grandfather and Grandmother teachings. This exciting program will fill up fast, sign up early! We will have lunch @ a restaurant near the museum (on your own). We will depart @10:00AM - Return 4:00PM. Contact the Hartland Senior Activity Center @ 810-626-2139 to make a reservation by November 1. $30 fee

Anyone that tried the diet, entered the photo contest with recipes or pictures, or anyone curious about it is welcome to attend this program! Share stories, successes and failures, and try food samples. Based on the decolonizingdietproject.blogspot.com/ site. This is an academic research initiative of the Northern Michigan University Center for Native American Studies. This DD was developed by Dr. Martin Reinhardt, who is an Anishinaabe Ojibway citizen of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians from Michigan. He is an assistant professor of Native American Studies at Northern Michigan University.
