The Big Read Kick Off: A Journey Through Earthsea

"Coastal GA Reads A Wizard of Earthsea" officially kicks off during First Friday festivities in downtown Brunswick. Patrons are encouraged to dress as their favorite fantasy characters and travel through the downtown area where they will meet a wizard, learn a spell, defeat the dragon and receive their true name and wizard staff. Big Read exhibits at the Ritz Theatre and Brunswick Library will open, proclamations will be presented by local officials and a free screening of "Dragonheart" will end the evening.

Cinema Gourmet: "La Belle et la Bete"

Cinema Gourmet offers a great film with delicious food - and a talk about why the film is a "must-see!" Jean Cocteau's version of Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la Bete) tells the story of a beautiful young woman who takes her father's place as the prisoner of a mysterious beast, who wishes to marry her. One of Roger Ebert's "Great Movies", it is a magical film a "fantasy alive with trick shots and astonishing effects, giving us a Beast who is lonely like a man and misunderstood like an animal."
