"My American Dream" Poetry Contest"

For the first time, the Lawrence County Public Library Poetry Contest has a theme. In honor of The Big Read we are asking our local poets to sharpen their pencils and write about "My American Dream". In The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby is trying to reach his American Dream and escape the life he knew. What is your dream? Have you achieved it? Or is it just out of reach? Poems can be dropped off at the nearest Briggs Lawrence County Public Library branch any time during the month of April. At the end of April, the poems will be judged. Winners will be announced in May. First place will receive a gift card and a certificate naming them the 2015 Poet Laureate of Briggs Lawrence County Public Library.
