Science Night: "The Science of 'Fahrenheit 451'"

When Ray Bradbury wrote his science fiction masterpiece in 1953, he predicted a number of scientific developments with amazing accuracy. He pointed to large flat-screen tvs, Skype and Kinect technologies and kidney dialysis. UW-Parkside professors Dr. Gary Wood, Dr. Lori Allen and Dr. Ed Bowden will explore further science concepts presented in the novel: how to determine the autoignition temperature of paper, how far we have come in developing an "electronic nose," and whether human memory has the capacity to memorize entire novels. Come to UW-Parkside Science Night and take a look at this influential piece of American literature from the scientific side. Parking is free. All ages.
